The 2020 NFL season didn't turn out the way the Dallas Cowboys hoped it to be. Starting quarterback Dak Prescott was dealt with a season-ending injury and backup playmaker Andy Dalton recently suffered a concussion in Week 7. The Cowboys are now on their heels as they hope to roll with third-string gunslinger in rookie Ben DiNucci for Week 8.

Despite the unexpected change of events, the James Madison product got the approval and confidence of Prescott in his abilities to successfully lead the team moving forward:

DiNucci told Prescott: “Hey, this isn’t what you said my rookie year was going to be like.”

Prescott laughed, gave DiNucci a hug and said, “We’ve talked about this. Go out there and do you. Take completions. Trust the guys around you. You’ll be great. Don’t overthink it. Football is football.”

The two-time Pro Bowler was already on pace to have one of the best statistical seasons of his career in 2020 until injuries found its way to alter the fate of the Cowboys this season.

On the other hand, starting for the world's most valuable football team as a seventh-round pick can be overwhelming for any rookie in the league. However, the Cowboys can only put their hopes in Ben DiNucci that he will deliver as they still aim to come out on top of a struggling NFC East division.

DiNucci will look to overcome the jitters as he makes his first start under center for the Cowboys in their Week 8 matchup against division rival Philadelphia Eagles.
