The Dallas Cowboys star running back Ezekiel Elliott was absent from practice on Wednesday and the team surely needs Elliott as they face a tough opponent on Sunday in the Indianapolis Colts.

According to Charean Williams of Pro Football Talk, Elliott was absent from the team's practice on Wednesday.

“Elliott had a stinger in Sunday’s victory over the Eagles on the play he was penalized for lowering his helmet to initiate contact. He returned to the game and finished with a career-high 40 touches, six more than his previous best.”

Elliott has been as good as ever this season and has already run for well over 1,000 yards even with three games left in the regular season. Elliott sits at 1,262 yards and could very well beat his rookie yard total of 1,631 that won him the rushing title that season. Zeke has reaped the benefits of having a fantastic offensive line as well as a solid quarterback to take the pressure off of him when needed.

The Cowboys will likely give Elliott a very light practice week and as long as he does enough he will likely be able to play. Elliott is very crucial to the Cowboys success so it's extremely important that the Cowboys take any necessary precautions with him.

Williams also pointed out that over the last five games Elliott has 858 yards and five touchdowns on 155 touches. Dallas will need that level of play from Zeke going forward as they are looking increasingly likely to make a run in the playoffs this season with a completely revamped team.
