Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has become the center of a possible legal matter concerning the payment of millions of dollars in reimbursement to the league. All of which stems from his actions taken after the NFL suspended star running back Ezekiel Elliott that pushed him to fuddle in commissioner Roger Goodell's contract extension situation.

This charge has been led by the compensation committee that has dealt directly with working out Goodell's new five-year contract that he agreed to earlier this year. According to Todd Archer of ESPN, Jones is expected to make an appeal to avoid being forced to pay these legal fees.

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones will appeal the NFL's decision to seek reimbursement of legal fees stemming from his actions related to Ezekiel Elliott's suspension and commissioner Roger Goodell's contract extension, a source confirmed to ESPN.

This was an expected move from Jones given the large amount of money that the league is hoping to get him to pay back. It is a  financial matter that stems from his decision to push sue compensation committee after there was no true support behind him to possibly stop the contract extension talks with Goodell.

The 75-year-old's ongoing angst against the NFL commissioner began with the handling of Elliott's situation that saw the league them suspend him for six games solely off his ex-girlfriend's account rather than the fact that there were no charges or involvement from a legal standpoint. From that moment on, Jones fully backed his star running back and pushed back on Goodell that led to him potentially filing a lawsuit against the compensation committee.

However, the NFL has is using a resolution that has been in the league's constitution since 1997 that reads that if an owner uses legal action against other owners, they must reimburse them for the legal fees. This is a matter that could be a long drawn out issue as Jones has already called for a court hearing to begin the appeal process. There should be much more to come on this front in the coming days and possibly weeks.
