When it was announced that Odell Beckham Jr. was getting traded from the Giants to the Browns, no one was more surprised than the Cowboys.

It turns out that the reason the Cowboys were so shocked is because they thought Beckham was going to become a Cowboy — and Beckham, himself, was interested in becoming one as well.

And based on the reaction from other Cowboys, they were just as surprised as the rest of us with the trade.

Odell Beckham Jr. had approved a trade to the Dallas Cowboys so that he could play with quarterback Dak Prescott and, as you might expect, make the Giants pay dearly twice a year.

The Giants and general manager Dave Gettleman would never approve of moving Beckham within the NFC East, but the fact that Dallas was on the short list provides a little insight into Beckham’s thinking.

What the superstar receiver will say in coming days will dominate league attention, and you can guarantee he’ll be asked about this. The question is, will Beckham throw the Giants and quarterback Eli Manning under the bus?

From the Kansas City Star:

“There has been a flurry of activity this week, with teams agreeing to terms with high-profile free agents and a number of big trades. The Cleveland Browns worked out a deal to acquire star receiver Odell Beckham Jr., from the New York Giants. Cleveland reportedly will be sending the Giants a first- and third-round pick and safety Jabrill Peppers. Odell Beckham Jr. was, in essence, the cherry on top for the team.”
