Sean Lee will return to the Dallas Cowboys for the 2019-20 season — but for a little less cheddar than he is used to.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported Saturday that the 32-year-old linebacker agreed to terms on a restructured contract that keeps him with the Cowboys for another year.

Lee is set to make $3.5 million at the start of next season, but has an opportunity to earn his way back to his original $7 million salary with incentives, per Rapoport.

The Cowboys will bring back one of their main veteran leaders. Lee recorded just 15 solo tackles in 2018. Even through his injuries, however, he has been a model team player for Dallas over the years.

This past year, Lee paved the way for rookie Leighton Vander Esch to start in most of the second half of the season's games. Thanks to exemplar mentoring from Lee, Vander Esch was named to the Pro Bowl for his efforts in helping the Cowboys snag an NFC East championship.

It's likely that Lee's days as a starter in Dallas will be drastically curtailed. However, getting a player of Lee's demeanor and locker room presence to come back at a reasonable price is something that should gladden the Cowboys' organization. The Cowboys play their best when their level of player loyalty is at its peak.

Sean Lee has 447 solo tackles, 13 QB hits, and 13 interceptions heading into his 10th year in the NFL.
