Records in sports serve as a bridge between eras, a way to compare the greats of the past with the stars of today. Many every “well-known” record memorized from past to present; but what about the “under the radar” NBA records? Here is a quick look at some NBA records you may have never heard of.

1. During the 1983-84 season, Magic Johnson dished out 10-plus assists in 46 straight games, a record that has yet to be broken (….and in 21 of those 46 games, Magic had at least 15 dimes). John Stockton and Rajon Rondo have come the closest, each having double-digit assists in 37 consecutive games.

2. Michael Jordan is the only player in NBA history to lead his team in four statistics, as a rookie. Jordan led the 1984-85 Chicago Bulls in scoring (28.2), rebounding (6.5), assists (5.9) and steals (2.4).

3. Hakeem Olajuwon is the only player in NBA history to lead his team in averaging 4 out of 5 main categories for 8 straight seasons (minimum 50 games). Olajuwon led Rockets in averaging points, rebounds, steals, and blocks from the 1985/86 to 1992/93 seasons, and again in 1994/95.

4. During the 1991–92 season Dennis Rodman grabbed 1530 rebounds, he is the last player with 1500-plus rebounds in a season. Rodman's total represented 42.1 percent of the Pistons' total (3631), which is the top individual percentage in NBA history.

5. Robert Horry is the only player in NBA history to win multiple championships with three different teams: Houston Rockets – 2 (‘94, ‘95) Los Angeles Lakers – 3 (‘00, ‘01, ‘02) San Antonio Spurs – 2 (‘05, ‘07).

6. During his first season in the league, Allen Iverson became the first rookie in NBA history to score 40+ points in five consecutive games. The previous record, three in a row, was held by Wilt Chamberlain who did it during the 1959-60 season. Iverson clinched the record by dropping 50 points, and then extended it to five.

7. Ben Wallace played in 1,088 regular-season games, the most by an undrafted player since the NBA/ABA merger. He is also the only player in NBA history to record 1,000 rebounds, 100 blocks, and 100 steals in 4 consecutive seasons (2001–04).

8. Carmelo Anthony is the only player in NBA history to score 50+ points with no points in the paint. Every shot was at least 15 feet away from the basket. He had 0 points in the paint and 37 points before recording any other stat (rebound, assist, block or steal). Anthony also scored the most consecutive points in a game – 26 (on December 10, 2008)
