A little over a year ago, collegiate athletes began making money off of their name, image, and likeness. The US Supreme Court made the new NIL law in June, and, by July 1, NCAA athletes across the nation were signing endorsement deals with different companies. According to Nick Saban, nobody is doing NIL better than the Crimson Tide.

Saban told the media at his SEC Media Day appearance that his Alabama players made more than $3 million in NIL deals.

“Name, image, and likeness is not an issue for us at the University of Alabama and our players,” the head coach said, all quotes per 247 Sports. He added that his players made more in NIL partnerships than anyone else in the country last year.

Nick Saban noted the shining reputation that Alabama's football organization has, and how it impacts his players' NIL opportunities.

“We have a great brand at Alabama, so players are certainly — their value there is going to be enhanced because of the value that our brand can help them create.”

For example, Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young has multiple NIL partnerships. According to Fan Nation, he has deals with BMW of Tuscaloosa, Cash App, Subway, and Logan's Roadhouse.

Nick Saban also expressed his personal opinion on the recent implementation of NIL.

“Well, I don't dislike name, image, and likeness,” he said. “I'm all for the players. I want our players to do well. Our players made over $3 million in name, image, and likeness. I'm all for the players being able to do as well as they can and use their name, image, and likeness to create value for themselves.”

However, he said that there needs to be “some uniformity and protocol of how name, image, and likeness is implemented.”
