Luol Deng has been trying to find his home in the NBA ever since he was traded from the Chicago Bulls in 2014. For the past two years that home has been the Miami Heat.
Deng helped in trying to fill the void that LeBron James left after deciding to go back to the Cleveland Cavaliers. Deng had a successful two years with the Heat and helped them through two seven-game series in last year’s playoffs.
Although his time in Miami had its bright spots, Luol Deng decided to leave South Beach and move on to the Los Angeles Lakers with a 4-year, $72 million deal. But Deng did show his gratifications toward the Heat organization and their fans by posting a farewell Instagram post.
Thank you to the @miamiheat for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a winning culture and first class organization. Thank you to the #Heatnation fanbase and the city of Miami for welcoming me in and showing me love. Such a beautiful city and rich culture. It's been an amazing two years, and the experience will stay with me as a special part of my journey.
Luol Deng had season averages of 12.3 points and six rebounds per game last year for the Heat, and he will be a strong veteran presence for the rebuilding Lakers.
