79-year-old Abbe “DieHardBirdie” Berg is back from retirement, and he wants you to be part of his pro team, the Golden Snipers. Tryouts and applications for Golden Snipers is now open for senior esports players, sixty years old and up.

Original Gamer Life, or OGL.tv, announced the newly-formed senior esports team, the Golden Snipers, on Friday, November 19, 2021. The team, which is led by returning DieHardBirdie, has opened its doors to applicants. However, you have to be at least sixty years old to apply.

DieHardBirdie is the oldest esports world champion at 78, winning a seniors league CS:GO tournament organized by DreamLeague in 2019. He would retire from competitive play in 2020, turning to live streaming on Twitch under his channel DieHardBirdie. Streaming games wasn't enough for the competitive spirit of DieHardBirdie, who decided to come out of retirement this year, now under Golden Snipers.

“Age is just a number, and mine just happens to be golden,” says DieHardBirdie. “With Golden Snipers, my primary goal is to abolish stereotypes and help fellow gray gamers sharpen their skills and rise above the ageism that runs rampant in the industry. I hope to see other senior teams rise to the challenge of facing us in 2022. We’ll soon be ready to take on some worthy opponents.”

Applicants don't need to be professional league players, but should enjoy gaming, share a positive attitude, and have the drive to compete at the highest level of play.
