There is a ton of excitement in Los Angeles as Opening Day draws closer for the Dodgers and the team now has Freddie Freeman on the roster. Freeman has already made a strong impression in LA with a few hits and a home run during Spring Training. But safe to say, the fans are not the only ones impressed with his performance in Spring Training. Manager Dave Roberts offered these comments about Freeman’s impact on the club.
“He’s fitting in really well. He’s very low maintenance — not that I expected him to be high maintenance. What he’s told our trainers is, ‘Don’t expect to see me. I still love you. But don’t expect to see me in the trainer’s room.’ He just wants to play and post.”
Roberts has developed a reputation as one of the best managers in the big leagues since taking the helm in Los Angeles. So fans are inclined to trust his judgment when he offers an opinion on a player.
Roberts later added some more thoughts in regards to Freddie Freeman’s spot in the batting order.
“I think that with Freddie in between those guys, I think it’s important,” Roberts stated. “So to have the right-left-right-left potentially with Max Muncy right there, it just poses a lot of problems for opposing teams.”
He is discussing the fact that Freeman will likely be hitting second between Mookie Betts and Trea Turner, with Max Muncy hitting right behind the trio.
Freddie Freeman appears to be a mainstay in the middle of this elite Dodgers lineup for the long term moving forward.
