Former Los Angeles Dodgers shortstop Corey Seager got the Texas Rangers off to a rousing start against the Houston Astros in Game 7 of the ALCS on Monday.

Seager hit a 440-ft. home run to right center field off Rangers starter Cristian Javier in the top of the first inning. Seager's moon shot put Texas on the board and made the sellout crowd at Minute Maid Park cringe. Javier gave up four hits and three earned runs in just a half inning of work. Astros manager Dusty Baker promptly yanked him off the mound after the first inning.

For their part, Dodgers fans raved about Seager's first-inning home run on social media.

“Corey Seager Game 7 home run against the Astros. Once a Dodger…” @noahcamras tweeted.

“Corey Seager is so good. #Dodgers should have kept him in LA for his whole career,” @michaeljduarte reacted.

Dodger Nation still loves the Rangers' Corey Seager

It's clear Dodgers Nation still has a lot of love for Corey Seager. He spent his first seven seasons in the Majors with the Dodgers before signing a whopping, 10-year, $325 million contract with the Rangers on December 1, 2021.

Corey Seager's 2020 MLB season was one for the record books. He earned 2020 NLCS MVP and 2020 World Series MVP honors as the Dodgers won their first Fall Classic pennant in 32 years. Watching Seager unload one of his patented lefty home runs in the 2023 ALCS must've been nostalgic for Dogers fans everywhere.

It sure seemed the Astros will advance to the World Series yet again after they beat the Rangers 5-4 in Game 5. However, Texas' bats have come to life in the past two games. The Rangers throttled the Astros 9-2 in Game 6.

Thanks to Corey Seager, the Rangers got off to another fast start in Game 7. Texas has built an insurmountable lead in the late going and is likely to advance to its third World Series in franchise history. The last time they made it to the Fall Classic in 2011, guys like Josh Hamilton, Adrian Beltre, and Ian Kinsler were on the roster.

Hopefully, the Rangers will finally win their first World Series pennant this year.
