On Tuesday, Miami Dolphins cornerback Xavien Howard released a statement via his Instagram asking for a trade. The 2022 first-team all-pro has expressed frustrations over his contract and saw no resolution coming from Miami, thus triggering the trade request. On Thursday, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported multiple suitors had entered the chat, including two playoff teams.

A day after the veteran cornerback formally requested a trade, NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport reported Wednesday that two playoff teams are among the clubs that have already made calls to the Dolphins to inquire about the possibility of trading for the 28-year-old All-Pro.

The specific teams were not identified but Rapoport did note that they aren't alone, citing that “others” have contacted Miami, as well. – Via NFL.com.

Perhaps most notable within all of this is that the Dolphins and head coach Brian Flores believe they can still resolve the situation and keep Howard happy in Miami. That, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.

“There’s a way,” Flores said. “I think we just continue to have discussions with him, his representation, and keep the lines of communication open, continue having dialogue and, hopefully, work something out. At the same time, we’ve got 90, 89 other guys that we’ll be working with, to include X.”

Time is ticking on the Dolphins needing to find if there is a way to keep Howard and figure out something that helps both sides out. While he's present for training camp, it doesn't necessarily mean he'd suit up for Miami if he isn't traded by Week 1.
