The Duke basketball team is once again one of the best teams in college basketball as the Blue Devils are currently 13-3 overall and 4-1 in ACC conference play. Duke is almost always a contender for the national title, and it looks like that will once again be the case this season. The Blue Devils didn't get out to as strong of a start this season as they were hoping as they were 5-3 after a disappointing upset loss to Georgia Tech. Now, Duke has won eight games in a row.

At the beginning of the season, it looked like Duke basketball might not be as good as everyone was originally thinking. However, the Blue Devils have showed in these last eight games are they are one of the best teams in the country. This team has a shown a lot of growth, and they still have a lot of time to continue to get better.

“To see the growth, to see the mental makeup of the guys on this team, they’re tough,” Duke head coach Jon Scheyer said, according to an article from Duke Basketball Report. “I’m talking mental toughness, not just the physical toughness on the court. I’m really proud of the growth we’ve made and really since that game. I do think we’ve been a different team.”

Right now, the Blue Devils are ranked #7 in the country, and they have their sights set on getting a one seed in the NCAA Tournament. The loss to Georgia Tech doesn't look great on the resume, but other than that, Duke does have a one seed level resume at this point in the season.

Duke has also lost games against Arizona, who is one of the best teams in the country, and they also lost a tough one on the road against Arkansas. The Blue Devils do also have some good wins too. They have taken down Michigan State and Baylor which are their two best wins of the season so far, and they will have a lot more opportunities for good wins in ACC play as well.

The Blue Devils will return to action on Saturday night as they will be at home to take on Pitt. Duke will be a big favorite in that one as they look to improve to 14-3 and extend their win streak to nine games. This win streak is impressive right now, and looking at their schedule for the rest of the month, the Blue Devils could keep this going for awhile.
