Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson's wax figure will get fixed by Musée Grévin, The Today show reported.
When the statue was unveiled recently, Johnson agreed with the fans who said that it didn't resemble him as much as he'd like. Some fans had taken to calling the wax figure Mr. Clean and Dwayne Vin Diesel Johnson.
By far the biggest complaint has been the statue's complexion. Even the former WWE star agreed. Johnson said in an Instagram post that his team will reach out to the museum to update the figure – “starting with my skin color.”
The Grevin Museum sent a statement to The Today Show that the actor is right.
“We noticed it and will obviously remedy it as quickly as possible and send him new photos once completed,” a museum representative said.
“We are waiting for him when he will come to Paris and the Grevin Wax Museum to celebrate that with a cup of champagne,” they added.
According to the museum's website, sculptor Stéphane Barret worked off just photos and videos of the Furious 7 star. The team also used a stand-in model — one they found by visiting gyms.
Barret detailed and stated, “What was a little harder for me was the sample photo that was chosen, where he just had a very slight smile on his face, an expression that's quite difficult to achieve. It was very subtle. We worked on his face and eyes several times, because the most complicated thing about realism is getting the statue to come alive from the visitors’ perspective.”
According to the Grevin website, the museum's painters took 10 days to handcraft Johnson's tattoos and the eyes were redone three times.
