After a year that saw the team finish with a 4-11-1 record and miss the playoffs for the first time in three seasons, the Philadelphia Eagles are already making moves for next season.

One of these moves is coming to an agreement with wide receiver Alshon Jeffery and defensive tackle Malik Jackson regarding contract adjustments, according to ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler.

As part of the adjustment, Jeffery and Jackson will need to agree on a new deal this year or be released, with Jeffery reportedly taking a significant pay cut from his $12.75 million salary.

The 30-year old veteran wideout signed a four-year, $52 million contract extension with the Eagles back in December 2017 that was supposed to keep him with the team until 2021, but the expectation is that Philadelphia will want to move on from both players, according to Mike Garafolo of the NFL Network.

The move will give the Eagles some salary cap relief for the upcoming season. but will also mean that the organization will need to decide sooner about the future of their players as they look to bounce back after a disappointing 2020 campaign.

Jeffery, a second-round pick of the Chicago Bears in the 2012 NFL Draft before signing with the Eagles and winning a Super Bowl with the team in 2018, was largely sidelined this season due to a foot injury. He made his season debut in Philadelphia’s Week 10 loss to the New York Giants, and finished the season with six catches for 115 receiving yards and a touchdown.
