The Philadelphia Eagles landed former Alabama star and Heisman Trophy winner DeVonta Smith in the first round of the 2021 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, the Eagles were without Smith in their preseason opener as he continued to recover from his injury.

According to John Clark of NBC Philadelphia, Smith is in line for some plays against the New England Patriots on Thursday night, as long as everything goes well pregame.

It's safe to say that the Eagles and the fans have been waiting for this, and the reunion of Jalen Hurts and Smith– former Crimson Tide teammates– should finally get some run against the Patriots. Ironically enough, Smith's last Alabama quarterback, Mac Jones, is battling for the Patriots' starting job.

By now there is no secret that the Eagles needed receiving help and got slammed for taking Jalen Reagor over Justin Jefferson in the 2020 NFL Draft. Enter Smith, who has immense talent and should have a golden opportunity to explode in the Eagles' offense.

They have a ton of young talent, but the expectations are high for Hurts, Smith, Reagor, and the running back duo of Miles Sanders and Kenneth Gainwell. Let's hope Smith can make his debut on Thursday night against the Patriots.
