Jay Ajayi made quite a debut for his new team, the Philadelphia Eagles. The third-year running back had 77 yards on just eight carries, including a 46-yard run for a touchdown against the league-best Denver Broncos run defense in a 51-23 Eagles win. This has, apparently, set well with head coach Doug Pederson.

After that strong debut, expect to see a lot more of Ajayi in the coming weeks as he gets comfortable in the Eagles offense.

According to Dave Zangaro of NBC Sports Philadelphia, Eagles coach Doug Pederson says Jay Ajayi has done a great job learning the offense since coming over and that they plan to “grow his package” over the next few weeks.

The NFL franchise likely used their bye to concentrate on getting Ajayi familiar what that expanded package ahead of a crucial stretch of games coming up. They face fierce division rivals in the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday, the first of four road games they have over the next five weeks.

It is worth noting that Philly also have tricky road games against the Seattle Seahawks and the Los Angeles Rams during that stretch.

While Carson Wentz has been in MVP-caliber form, Pederson and the Eagles will also need their revamped running game of Ajayi and Corey Clement to be ready to help carry that load offensively.

One has to wonder if the Dolphins now realize that it wasn't the running back that was the problem on Miami, but that it could have been the playcalling and/or offensive line. Either way, dude is flourishing in Philadelphia.
