Jalen Hurts and the Philadelphia Eagles looked like true Super Bowl contenders for much of the 2023 NFL season. However, things have gone downhill as of late. Philadelphia ended their season losing five of their final six games. And that includes a 17-point loss in Week 18 to the New York Giants.

After the game, Hurts addressed the skid with the media. The star quarterback was rather straightforward with what has gone wrong with his team. “It’s about taking advantage of the opportunity. Do I think we’ve done a good job of doing that? No,” Hurts told Eagles reporter Martin Frank.

However, the Alabama product believes they can turn things around. “Now, it’s about finding that deep in our souls, figuring out ways to win,” he told Frank on Sunday after the Eagles' Week 18 loss.

Jalen Hurts, Eagles fall to Giants in Week 18

Hurts did play in the regular season finale against New York. He completed seven of his 16 pass attempts, throwing for 55 yards and one interception. The Philadelphia signal-caller suffered a finger injury during the game, though it doesn't appear to be serious.

Backup Marcus Mariota took over under center during the game. He completed 13 of his 20 pass attempts, including a fourth-quarter touchdown to Quez Watkins. The former first-overall pick also threw an interception in the Week 18 loss.

The Giants came out swinging and took a 24-0 lead into halftime. Tyrod Taylor completed 23 passes while throwing for nearly 300 yards to close out the season. Running back Saquon Barkley added two touchdowns on the ground as New York claimed their sixth win of the year.

The Giants finished third in the NFC East, and head into their offseason. Meanwhile, the Eagles are headed to the playoffs despite their late-season collapse. However, they have to hit the road as they open their playoff campaign against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Philadelphia certainly hopes they can turn things around and defend their status as NFC champions. Let's see if Jalen Hurts and the Eagles can pull things together, or if their collapse results in an early playoff exit.
