The Philadelphia Eagles received bad news on Tuesday, learning they will likely be without starting tight end Dallas Goedert Thursday night when they matchup with Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Goedert has been one of quarterback Jalen Hurts' favorite targets this season, ranking third on the Eagles with 16 catches so far in 2021.

Dallas Goedert is averaging 14.4 yards per catch this season and has scored two touchdowns. The Eagles will call on additional help from the likes of DeVonta Smith, Quez Watkins, Zach Ertz and Jalen Reagor to keep their passing game rolling in a matchup vs. Brady where they will definitely need to be able to move the sticks and put up points to keep up.

The Eagles got back into the win column for the first time since Week 1 this past Sunday with a victory over the Carolina Panthers. They will obviously face a much taller task on Sunday, and the Eagles have not faired very well against good competition this season. The Dallas Cowboys blew out the Eagles in Week 3 by a score of 41-21, and the Kansas City Chiefs went into Philadelphia and got a 42-30 win in Week 4. Hurts will need to get the passing game going if the Eagles are going to have a chance vs. Brady and his arsenal of weapons.

The Eagles will be on their home field on Thursday night, so maybe they can catch Tampa Bay sleeping on a short week and pick up the win. Losing Dallas Goedert will make that task a bit tougher, but at least they still have Ertz as a solid receiving option at tight end.
