Heading into the penultimate NXT before Vengeance Day, things weren't looking too good for the long-time tag team formerly of the eponymously named Toxic Attraction, Gigi Dolin and Jacy Jayne. That's right, despite seemingly joining forces with Grayson Waller to become “The Toxic Attraction Effect” – which, again, isn't the best nickname – the duo couldn't get over the kick heard 'round the world and spent the entirety of NXT talking trash at the other's expense.
First came Jayne, who declared that “Gigi Dolin has done nothing but anchor me down for far too long,” before declaring that “she refuses to let her stop me from becoming the NXT Women's Champion,” before her former tag team partner got in on the fun, suggesting that “Jacy Jayne is a bad person. Plain and simple. I am nothing like her. I can't wait to look Jacy in her face and give her a piece of my mind.”
Fortunately, or not depending on your preference, it all came to a head in the final segment of the show, when Booker T, Dolin, Jayne, and the current NXT Women's Champion, Roxanne Perez, had a good old-fashioned talk down ahead of their match at Vengeance Day. Sniping at each other far more often than the champ, Jayne called out Dolin's indie roots before the former AEW star disclosed that her former partner would routinely “throw up in a bucket” backstage before coming to the ring, so much so that she literally had a monogrammed receptacle made with her name on it. For a moment, it looked like fans were in for a real treat, the likes of which seemingly always go over in WWE, but alas, it wasn't meant to be; after getting in each other's faces, Dolin and Jayne turned their attention to Perez and ultimately slammed her through the table.
Was this all a ruse? Did Dolin and Jayne actually get angry at each other, or was this all part of a bigger plan to beat down on Perez a week and change before their eventual match? Either way, if the plan was to shake things up ahead of the contest and intimidate Perez, finishing out the match holding her NXT Women's Championship over their heads certainly checked that box.

Roxanne Perez reflects on her surprising NXT Women's Championship win.
Article Continues BelowSpeaking of the current NXT Women's Champion, Perez stopped by Faction 919 to discuss winning the strap, which didn't happen when it was supposed to but was incredibly appreciated nonetheless.
“It wasn't supposed to happen that day,” Perez said via Fightful. “It was a mix of emotions because I didn't have time to soak it in, ‘Alright, this is happening right now.' Expect the unexpected. Obviously, Mandy, I think she is amazing. Since I got to NXT, she is always someone I could go to and she didn't have to be so as giving and sweet to me as she was because she had been there for so long. For her to be such a good human being, I was always so grateful for her. In a way, I was a little sad, because of the way it was happening, but she was so supportive and being like, ‘You deserve this.' It made it so much more special. To have Booker T, my trainer, on commentary. My boyfriend was also there as well, he was a big part of my training and me becoming a wrestler. To have them there and when they gave me the championship, holding it in my hands, it didn't feel real until that moment. Everything I went through, all the trials and tribulations, the ups and downs of this wrestling journey that I've been on since I was 13, all those moments were so worth it. It was finally real and it finally happened. It was crazy.”
While the decision to fire Rose for her subscription-based Fantime page may have robbed Perez of her big win on a “Premium Live Event,” which would have been the crowning jewel of her first year in the promotion, it's safe to say the current champ is having herself a time with the strap, even if streaming superstar Stevie Turner believes that there will be a new champion on NXT at the end of Vengeance Day – take with that what you will. With a legitimate Hall of Fame trajectory ahead of “The Protegy,” it's safe to say the first “Premium Live Event” defense of her title will be a must-watch affair for long-time fans of the performer formerly known as Rok-C.
