It could very well be said that Dennis Rodman was a man ahead of his time. Having played in the NBA between 1986 and 2000 — although he really evolved into his eccentric self towards the second half of his career — the 6-foot-7 forward was one unique personality, to say the least.
One of the things that made him stand out — except of course for his brightly-colored and ever-changing hairstyles — was the myriad of tattoos he had in his entire body. Rodman wasn't shy about showcasing them as well, often posing shirtless (and pants-less at times) for everyone to see his body art in all its glory.
We'd like to cover all of Rodman's known tattoos, so we better get started. Shout out to the folks at Body Art Guru for the content.
Being that Rodman has more than a few tats all over, we've decided to work our way down, starting from his neck and shoulders area.
Rodman is a huge fan of tribal tattoos, and he has some of them on his neck, shoulders, and upper chest areas. Tribal tats — which were extremely huge in the '90's — were more decorative as opposed to meaningful, so we doubt if there's much substance behind Rodman's tribal designs.
Rodman also has a couple of wings on his neck, with the word “Infinity” inscribed under them.
Moving down a bit, Rodman has a couple of angry bulls in a mirror image on his right and left breasts. Presumably, he got these to represent the Chicago Bulls, with which he won three memorable championships with. Below is a clearer look at his pets.
There are a couple of words scribbled down under each bull in what appear to be Old English, but we just can't make them out.
“The Worm” has more tribal tattoos in his abdomen area:
There's also a cross right that centers on his belly button, which is surrounded by a few stars. The letters “D” and “M” are inscribed on the opposite sides of the top star.
Now moving on to Rodman's back, and this is where it gets crazy.
More tribal designs on his upper back (of course), and he also had his last name inked on his nape.
Right below those is a huge back piece which depicts a woman eating her own vagina.
I mean, who does that? Who gets such a graphic image permanently tattooed so prominently in his own body? Well, Rodman's that guy, and quite frankly, it's quite on-brand for him. We're not even going to talk about what the woman's legs/boots look like and what they seem to represent.
Moving on to Rodman's right arm, and we have a lot more pieces to decipher.
He has a cross, a giant squid, a devil woman with a pitch fork, a motorcycle, and another piece with the word “torture” on there.
A closeup of his right hand reveals an eye, what look like a few dolphins, and again, the word “infinity.”
On his left arm, Rodman has perhaps his most prominent tattoo from his playing days, which is a sun serving as a backdrop of a shark jumping out of the water. Below it we have a couple of red dies, a few symbols, and more tribal designs.
Last but not least, Rodman also has a few more tats on both of his legs, which as with other pieces, all seem to be completely random.
