Everyone knows the famous saying if it isn't broken, don't fix it. Well, Ubisoft is going more for if it's extremely popular, let's try and make our own version of it. Immortals Fenyx Rising is an upcoming action-adventure game from Ubisoft Quebec. It's set to be a sprawling adventure through a mythology-based map but fans of another franchise may notice more than a few similarities with a 2017 hit game. Here's everything we know about Immortals Fenyx Rising.

Rising like a Fenyx

Ubisoft premiered the game in September 2020 featuring amazing combat and visuals but left out many details about the upcoming game. Fans gleaned very few details from the trailer save for the promised release date of December 3, 2020. It's always exciting when established studios showcase a brand new franchise. Ubisoft is especially the culprit of clutching desperately to their franchises. The introduction of this new game is a breath of fresh air. Hopefully, Ubisoft will deliver an amazing game for its fans and followers.

Players play the role of the soldier Fenyx in the game. The entire map is based loosely on Greek Mythology and will feature several famous characters from the captivating legends. Players must rescue Greek gods from the titan Typhon, who seeks revenge on the pantheon of gods. The Greek gods banished Typhon to Tartarus in an earlier conflict. It's a refreshing video game return to Greek Mythology when so many of the famous Greek-themed games focused on annihilating all of the gods in their pantheon.

The game is set to release on a myriad of platforms. Players looking to get their hands on Immortals Fenyx Rising can play it on Microsoft Windows, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, Stadia, and the new Amazon Luna. Its multiplatform launch will ensure fans get access to the new game no matter what platform they prefer.

It's time to fight

Several fans have noted similarities between Immortals Fenyx Rising and The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Online perception has been split on the issue with supporters of both sides offering proof of their side of the argument. It's true that the upcoming game may draw inspiration from 2017's game of the year winner but that's beyond the point. A poor imitation will always remain a poor imitation. Undoubtedly, Ubisoft has painstakingly crafted a new world for players to explore and enjoy. Fenyx may or may not be a clone of Zelda's Link but that's a moot point.

The game will speak for itself once it comes out next month. Ubisoft treated its fans to snippets of gameplay footage prior to the game's official release. It would appear that Fenyx features vast exploration as well as engaging combat mechanics. Players will be able to glide on their wings or take to the plains with a mountable creature. Expectations need to be tempered however as players will need to try the game for themselves to give a proper assessment.

Genshin Impact, 2020's surprise RPG hit, has proven that BOTW-inspired games have the immense potential to succeed. Immortals Fenyx Rising will be without colorful anime characters so it will be a tough fight. Players around the globe have gravitated towards sandbox worlds that feature colorful stories. Ubisoft is a master of sandbox games but this will be a much faster-paced game compared to Assassins Creed and Watch_Dogs.

Ubisoft has also promised that players that opt for the PS4 and Xbox One versions of the game will be able to upgrade to the next-gen version at no additional cost. This is welcome news for players looking to adopt the newest consoles in the market. Fortunately, there doesn't seem to be any indication of the game being exclusive on any storefront for the PC version.

Immortals Fenyx Rising will allow players to explore a brand new world with many stuff to do. It will surely be an appealing escape for many players suffering from the current ongoing pandemic. Its near-Christmas launch makes it the perfect game to test out during the Holidays while we're still confined in our homes.
