Former NFL MVP and Atlanta Falcons quarterback Matt Ryan did not get off to a hot start to the 2019-20 regular season on Sunday afternoon.

While hitting the road to take on the Minnesota Vikings, Ryan and company just simply couldn't string anything together on either side of the football en route to suffering a demoralizing 28-12 loss at the hands of the NFC North franchise.

As a result of his team's Week 1 defeat, a loss that was a lot farther apart than the aforementioned score would suggest, Ryan had some very direct words to say at his postgame press conference while taking the blame for the Falcons' forgettable outing in Minnesota.

However, Ryan cannot take the blame for his team's defensive performance as Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins and running back Dalvin Cook did just about everything and anything they wanted in the Week 1 NFC matchup.

While Cousins always puts together impressive statistical performances on a seasonal basis, it was Cook who really came to play as many had begun to write him off prematurely after a lackluster start to his NFL tenure.

However, in Cook's defense, he hasn't been the healthiest player in the league since making his way to Minnesota from Florida State University.

As for Ryan and the Falcons, Atlanta will look to move forward and forget about Sunday's outing entirely, especially with a tough division to matchup against the rest of the way.

Adding to the tough road ahead, the 0-1 Falcons will notably take on the 1-0 Philadelphia Eagles in Atlanta come Week 2.
