It took a few weeks, but thanks to sidekick Taylor Swift, Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce has finally set himself apart as the NFL's elite fantasy football tight end. Kelce is averaging five more fantasy football points per game in PPR leagues than any other player at the position and is the 11th-highest scorer overall among FLEX players despite missing Week 1.

Who else can be trusted at the tight end position? Find out, in Week 8 Start ‘Em, Sit ‘Em: Tight Ends.

Saints, Taysom Hill

TEs to Start in Week 8

Saints' Taysom Hill (vs. Colts)

Taysom Hill has felt like one of those forbidden fantasy players in recent years, garnering touches in a variety of ways but always too much of a risk to actually start. For the first few weeks of the season, it seemed that Hill would not have fantasy value even with his tight end designation. The veteran had just four catches through the first five games but has proven to be more of an option for Derek Carr in recent weeks.

Hill has 11 catches over his last two contests to go with his average of four carries per game on the year. Throw in the occasional pass attempt, and Hill has reached double-digit fantasy points in each of his last two contests. With a matchup against a weak Colts defense, the Saints' Swiss Army Knife is worth a look if you are struggling for production at the TE position.

Eagles' Dallas Goedert (vs. Commanders)

After a slow start to the season, Dallas Goedert has turned it on in recent weeks. The Philadelphia Eagles tight end has 18 catches over his last three games and is averaging 17.9 fantasy football points per contest during that stretch. The Washington Commanders defense gave up 98 yards to New York Giants tight end Darren Waller last week; expect that trend to continue for Dallas Goedert this weekend.

Texans' Dalton Schultz (vs. Panthers)

Apparently, Dalton Schultz needed a few games to settle down in Houston because he has been a strong fantasy option after a dismal start. Schultz averaged just 3.9 points per game in Weeks 1-3 but has posted 16.3 fantasy points/game in three contests since. Week 8 offers a favorable matchup against a Carolina Panthers defense that is allowing 31 points per game to opponents this year.

TEs to Sit in Week 8

Bears' Cole Kmet (vs. Chargers)

Cole Kmet had a breakout game in Week 4, recording a pair of touchdowns and 27.6 fantasy points against the Denver Broncos. But, like the Bears offense, has been unable to be a consistent threat. With Tyson Bagent filling in for an injured Justin Fields as the Bears QB, Kmet has just two catches for nine yards over the last two weeks and was not targeted by Bagent in Chicago's most recent contest. Even against a beatable Los Angeles Chargers defense, this lack of looks does not bode well for Cole Kmet in Week 8.

Browns' David Njoku (vs. Seahawks)

Though he is coming off a promising week, David Njoku still cannot be trusted moving forward. He eclipsed 10 fantasy points for just the second time this season, and with Deshaun Watson likely out and a Seahawks defense that is stout against tight ends up next, there is too much risk here to play Njoku.

Falcons' Jonnu Smith (vs. Buccaneers)

Oh, how we wanted to believe. The Atlanta Falcons were able to sustain a pair of fantasy-relevant tight ends for three consecutive weeks before Jonnu Smith and Kyle Pitts combined for 13.4 fantasy points last week. It is possible that this performance is an outlier, but against a Tennessee Titans defense giving up just 8.8 fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends, it is best to wait until week nine to bet on the Falcons' tight ends again.
