Night 1 of the 2022 NHL Draft is complete and Day 2 is underway. The Philadelphia Flyers are wasting no time and just acquired Tony DeAngelo and a seventh-round pick in a trade with the Carolina Hurricanes.

In exchange, the Hurricanes received second, third, and fourth-round picks, which are spread out over the next three years. The Athletic's Pierre LeBrun tweeted the trade details Friday morning:

And, according to NHL insider Frank Seravalli, DeAngelo's deal is expected to be two-years and roughly $5 million annually:

Tony DeAngelo is a huge acquisition for the Flyers, a team in desperate need of talent. The Flyers finished last season well below .500 with a 25-46-11 record. In the past year, the team has been through a lot. The Flyers fired two head coaches and lost longtime captain Claude Giroux in a trade with the Florida Panthers.

Now, under new head coach John Tortorella, they're looking for more success in their upcoming rebuild season. DeAngelo is a perfect piece to push the team in the right direction.

The 26-year-old defenseman has roots with the Flyers. He grew up in Sewell, New Jersey, right outside of Philadelphia, and played for the Flyers‘ minor league affiliate in the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament in 2008.

Through six years in the NHL, DeAngelo has played for three different teams. He has played in 270 games, recording 34 goals, 123 assists, and 157 points.
