Alfa Romeo driver Antonio Giovinazzi reveals that it hasn't been easy to race this year amid his doubtful Formula 1 future.

Over 16 races this season, Giovinazzi has out-qualified his teammate Kimi Raikkonen, but fails to convert his qualifying performances into points — Raikkonen still leads the Italian by 5 points. With the team looking to make an impact when the new regulations kick in next year, Alfa Romeo may defer from Giovinazzi for a fresh start.

Only one seat remains for the 2022 Formula 1 season and it comes alongside Mercedes driver Valterri Bottas at Alfa Romeo. Giovinazzi currently occupies the seat but has admitted that it hasn't been east to race the last few weekends knowing his future hangs in the balance.

Via Formula 1:

“For sure, it's not easy,” admitted Giovinazzi. “If you ask this question to all of the drivers, they will answer that it's not easy; you want to know what you will do next year, if you're here or not. So it's not ideal, but the situation is this now for me, and I will try to do my best as well with this pressure on me.

For now, the Italian will keep fighting for another chance in Formula 1 and with 6 races remaining, the pressure is mounting as time runs appears to be running out for Giovinazzi — he'll need to act quickly and prove to the team he's worthy of the Alfa Romeo seat next year.
