The Total War Saga: Troy release date on Steam has been much-awaited. Especially by Grand Strategy fans dismayed at the game previously releasing as an Epic Exclusive. Thankfully, they don't have much of a long wait ahead. Additionally, the Steam release will coincide with the Mythos expansion, bringing a less historically accurate but more fantastical approach to the game.
Total War Saga Troy Release Date (Steam): September 2, 2021
Heavily inspired by Homer's The Illiad, Total War Saga Troy is one of the smaller, more experimental games in the Total War stable. It focuses on only two major factions – the Trojans, and the Greeks. The game was originally released as an Epic Game Store exclusive in August of last year.
For the Total War Saga Troy release on Steam, however, Creative Assembly isn't simply making the game available on a new platform. They're going to release it alongside a hefty Mythos Expansion. The expansion is the largest ever update for the game. It comes with new game modes, system reworks, and an entirely new campaign that has mythical elements.
Classic Greek mythological creatures such as the Lernean Hydra, Griffin Patriarch, and Cerberus will all feature in the Mythos expansion. The new campaign also depicts units and concepts as their mythological counterparts. Previously, before the Mythos expansion, Creative Assembly presented them under a real-world lens. Additionally, players can also make use of the expanded Divine Will system. This grants them power over nature and the elements – such as Zeus' thunderbolts.
Historical fans need not worry though, as Total War Saga Troy's Mythos expansion will also coincide with the launch of a free historical mode that is much more down-to-earth. Once again, the Total War Saga Troy release on Steam is on September 2, 2021, alongside the Mythos expansion.
