Hot off of the financial success of the Uncharted movie, Sony Picture Studios and Playstation Productions have been hard at work creating a new video game adaptation movie based on the hit Playstation 4 title, Ghost of Tsushima, and they have reached out to talented screenwriters and filmmakers to make this project a reality.

In a news report released by Deadline, Hollywood filmmaker Chad Stahelski, best known for his work on John Wick, is set to direct the film, while Takashi Doscher, an award-winning writer is set to work on writing the script. While Takashi has only created two feature films, he has plenty of experience working in documentaries and television shows. Sucker Punch, the development studio behind the Ghost of Tsushima video game, will also be directly involved in the production of the film, as several unspecified members of the development team will serve as executive producers.

As video game movies are starting to become more and more popular due to recent successes such as the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 movie, it only makes sense that Sony would want to capitalize on this. With the creation of Playstation Productions in 2019, they have already dipped their whole bodies into the pool when it comes to video game adaptations made for films and television, such as the Uncharted movie released early in 2022, as well as The Last of US TV show coming in 2023 for HBO. Other planned projects include a Jak and Daxter movie, along with a Twisted Metal and God of War TV series.

At the moment, the Ghost of Tsushima film is in very early stages of development and does not have any details regarding the plot, the casting, or when the filming will begin. Hopefully, the team at Sucker Punch will make use of their ambassador status with Japan to visit the real Tsushima Island, in order to capture as much authenticity for the filming as possible.
