With the NFL playoffs in full swing, there are a bevy of coaches have already committed to their next coaching gig. Offensive coordinator Pat Shurmur feels he could potentially be one of them.

Leading up to their matchup with the Philadelphia Eagles in the NFC Championship Game, Shurmur did his best to remain hush about his meeting with the New York Giants. However, he could not help but express admiration for the Giants' organization, according to Mark Cannizzaro of the New York Post:

“I thought it was a really good conversation and I felt we connected on a lot of levels,” Shurmur said. “I walked away saying — and I knew this going into it — that’s an iconic franchise. I walked away feeling that same amount of respect for them. When I think of them, I just have great respect for what they’ve accomplished. They’ve won through the years, the players, the Lombardi Trophies, it’s iconic in a lot of ways. I know when I was with the Eagles and we got on the bus and rode up the parkway I was looking forward to competing against them. That’s a little piece of me.”

Much like the other coordinators set to make their next move, Shurmur is not allowed to discuss the specifics of his job status at this time. However, there is hardly any doubt at this point that he will become the Giants head coach following the 2017 NFL season.

Shurmur has done a tremendous job running the Vikings' offense despite the quarterback carousel they have been on over the past two seasons. Despite the disastrous year the Giants just endured, they still possess a star-studded roster along with the second overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft.
