The New York Giants are looking to hit the restart button and enter the new era with a clean slate. After cleaning house and bringing in a new GM in Joe Schoen and a new head coach in Brian Daboll, replacing Dave Gettleman and Joe Judge respectively, the G-Men are preparing for some significant overhaul in the offseason. With the changes looming, there are a few key players that could be dealt, in order to more hastily get the rebuild underway. According to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, among the players who could be facing a Giants' exit include former first-round picks Saquon Barkley and Kadarius Toney.

Barkley was the Giants' first-round draft pick in 2018, with the team using its No. 2 overall pick to bring the star Penn State running back to the organization. While he impressed in Year 1, injuries have plagued him throughout most of his rookie contract, and the Giants may consider parting ways with Barkley rather than sign him to a contract extension.

Barkley's rookie deal expires at the end of the next season, though he'll have a $7.2 million team option the team may wish to utilize. Fowler listed the Buccaneers as a possible destination for Barkley if Leonard Fournette signs elsewhere in free agency.

As for Toney, the former first-round wide receiver out of Florida showed signs of promise in 2021. He ultimately failed to get acclimated in New York's offense, however, as Toney caught 39 receptions for 420 yards and zero touchdowns. Considering he's a product of the Gettleman era, the Giants may consider using his status as a former first-rounder in order to facilitate a trade, though a deal involving the young wideout isn't exactly going to move the needle in terms of cap space.
