Despite the fact that the New York Giants recently managed to select both former Penn State Nittany Lions running back Saquon Barkley and former Duke Blue Devils quarterback Daniel Jones, things are not currently going very well in East Rutherford. As a result of the team's continued struggles with the Giants showing minimal signs of life throughout the 2019 regular season, it appears as though head coach Pat Shurmur and general manager Dave Gettleman could be on their way out in New York.

According to a recent report from Jordan Raanan of ESPN, both Shurmur and Gettleman are currently in jeopardy of losing their jobs with the two-win Giants now possessing the second-worst record in the entire NFL.

With the tandem of Shurmur and Gettleman at the helm, things were supposed to turn around in a hurry for the Giants. Instead, things have gone even further south with two-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback Eli Manning being relegated to a backup, All-Pro wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. being traded to the Cleveland Browns and the once heralded NFC East franchise managing a mere two wins through the first 14 weeks of the 2019 regular season.

Even with the aforementioned duo of Barkley and Jones now in place as the future cornerstones of the franchise, things are still not looking up for the Giants — which may even be an understatement. With tons of roster reconfiguration currently on the immediate horizon, perhaps ownership no longer believes in either Shurmur or Gettleman with the team's future now truly at stake.
