Memphis Grizzlies head coach J.B. Bickerstaff told local reporters Friday that small forward Chandler Parsons will be out at least another week with swelling in his knee.
Parsons didn't play in Wednesday's game against the Sacramento Kings. The 30-year-old has appeared in three games this season and is averaging 5.7 points and 1.3 rebounds while shooting 41.2 percent from the floor and 30.0 percent from beyond the arc.
Chandler Parsons arguably has one of the worst contracts in the NBA. He is making a whopping $24 million this season and is currently slated to make $25 million in 2019-20. Parsons only played in 36 games last year with Memphis, averaging 7.9 points, 2.5 rebounds and 1.9 assists.
The swingman has been riddled with injuries the past few years. Parsons has undergone multiple knee surgeries and hasn’t been a productive player since signing with Memphis back in 2016. The eight-year veteran has career averages of 13.0 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists in 413 games with the Houston Rockets, Dallas Mavericks and Grizzlies.
Memphis has to consider parting ways with Chandler Parsons. He's not an effective NBA player anymore and can't even stay on the floor. Giving him that much money in the first place was a mistake. The front office has to just eat it up and move on from him.
