Detroit Pistons point guard Derrick Rose has been impressed by how hard Memphis Grizzlies rookie Ja Morant plays on a nightly basis.

A lot of people have been saying Morant reminds them of young D-Rose. While the former MVP won't get into comparisons, he did speak highly of Ja and what the youngster has been doing for the Grizzlies this season.

“He's leading Memphis in the right direction,” Rose told Duane Rankin of the Arizona Central. “You can tell his teammates love playing with him because they know they will get the ball. He competes every night.”

Like Rose, Morant is a competitor who works hard day in and day out to become the best player he can be. Rose became the youngest MVP in NBA history by winning the award in just his third season in the NBA with his hometown Chicago Bulls. The former No. 1 overall pick accomplished that feat by working and training religiously.

The Grizzlies are in good hands with Morant since his work ethic is off the charts as well. Ja is trying to win the Rookie of the Year Award like Rose did back in 2009. He's averaging 17.7 points, 3.4 rebounds and 7.0 assists in 54 games, all while shooting 49.2 percent from the field, 35.2 percent from beyond the arc and 77.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Ja Morant has the speed with which Hall of Famer Allen Iverson played with during his career. The Grizzlies guard, however, also plays above the rim like Russell Westbrook and MVP Derrick Rose.
