Tyreke Evans has been one of the hottest names floating in the rumor mill of this relatively meek NBA trade deadline, and while the Memphis Grizzlies are expected to keep their cornerstone center Marc Gasol, they could certainly have plans to flip their hybrid guard/forward, who is having a career year.

ESPN's Brian Windhorst went as far as saying that Evans “definitely gets traded” during this deadline, as the Grizzlies are unlikely to fight for a playoff spot this season with Mike Conley's season under wraps and no solid core besides Gasol.

“Tyreke Evans definitely gets traded, even if it’s for a second-round pick,” said Windhorst in an episode of The HoopsHype Podcast with Alex Kennedy. “Memphis probably holds out until the very end, to make sure that somebody isn’t ready to offer [something more].”

The Grizzlies could be fishing for assets down the line, but they haven't done so well drafting in recent years, as they've already parted ways with Wade Baldwin IV this season.

Since 2007, Memphis has only seen two first-round picks play past their rookie contracts — Conley (drafted in 2007) and Darrell Arthur (drafted in 2008).

Evans is the team's leading scorer and posting the best all-around line since his rookie season in Sacramento with averages of 19.4 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 5.0 assists per game. He's become a more reliable 3-point shooter over the last few years, but it has finally paid dividends for him this season, making 2.1 per game at a 38.8 percent clip.

Hitting foul shots at a near-80-percent rate has also boosted his scoring, which could draw plenty of offers if the Grizzlies do indeed intend on trading him within the next 10 days.
