The Iowa Hawkeyes are saying goodbye to Keegan Murray, one of the best players in the program's history and one of the best prospects in the 2022 NBA Draft. Kris Murray, his twin brother, faced the same fork in the road and has now made a decision.

Murray announced that he will be going back to Iowa for another season as his brother heads for the big leagues. He said that returning to head coach Fran McCaffery and the Hawkeyes will help him in the long run as he pursues the NBA.

The Murray brothers trained together in Chicago for the NBA Draft. They were both invited to the NBA Combine but Kris declined the offer, one of just two players to do so along with Michigan's Caleb Houstan. Ultimately, they decided to take different paths. McCaffrey said in a statement that the Iowa program is thrilled that he will be returning.

“Everyone in our program is very excited to have Kris back,” said Iowa head coach Fran McCaffery. “We are happy that Kris had a positive experience going through the NBA process. He gained valuable feedback through workouts and conversations with NBA personnel. Kris will be awesome next year.”

While Keegan shined and developed into a star, Kris played a prominent role off the bench. He averaged 9.7 points and 4.3 rebounds while shooting 47.9 percent from the floor and 38.7 percent from deep in 17.9 minutes per game. With his brother moving on, he has the opportunity to take control of the Iowa team.
