Trae Young is legit.

At this point, there's no more questioning the ability of Young to hang with the NBA's elite. When he first entered the league in 2018, many observers were quite apprehensive because of his diminutive frame and ball-heavy style. Well now, Young just led the Atlanta Hawks to a historic win in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Finals.

But even before the game on Wednesday night, Hawks coach Nate McMillan already gave the most appropriate description for Young (via Washington Post).

“He's fearless.”

Young was absolutely not scared of the Milwaukee Bucks in Game 1, torching them with 48 points on top of seven rebounds and 11 assists. Even All-NBA Defensive First Team member Jrue Holiday had a hard time keeping up with the fleet-footed flamethrower.

The Hawks' decision to trade Young for Luka Doncic has proven to be a stroke of genius. While many believe Doncic is the better player, Young has gotten the better wins. The Hawks will fly as high as Young takes them, and so far, it's been pretty high.

McMillan may have been succinct with his comment on Young, the 22-year-old scoring devil had more to say about their chances and building the Hawks into perennial contenders.

“We know it’s our first year in the playoffs together, and it’s only the beginning, too. That’s the best part about this whole thing. It’s only the beginning. It’s been a tough journey. It took a lot of losses to get here. For us, I think the guys who have been here since the rebuild, this feeling is a lot better than what it’s been.”

It's only appropriate for Trae Young to do his chilly celebration after that one.
