In Thursday's game against the Philadelphia 76ers, Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young joined Kobe Bryant as the only two players with 25 points and 10 assists before halftime.

Young was those most affected by the deaths of Kobe Bryant and her daughter Gigi. Young actually had the opportunity to meet the two, with Bryant citing that Young is one of the favorite players of his daughter.

The Hawks were one of the teams who had to muster their courage to play after the announcement of Bryant's death. The Hawks guard changed his jersey to no. 8 at the start of the game to honor the Los Angeles Lakers icon.

Against the Sixers, Young finished with a monster double-double: 39 points and 18 assists. He also had six rebounds. The best part of all is that the Hawks won 127-117 over the elite Sixers squad. It's a successful bounce-back victory after their 130-114 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday.

The Hawks now sport a poor 13-36 record. While they have a bunch of up and comers in the roster, they've still haven't discovered their mojo. From the looks of it, they might need to figure things out in the offseason.

But for Young, he's having his best season thus far in his two-year career. He's averaging 29.2 points (third in the league), 4.6 rebounds, and 9.0 assists (second in the league). And the best part of all, the 21-year-old was named into the All-Star game as a starter.

This season may not be the breakout year for the Hawks, but they do have a bright player in Young who's slowly making his presence felt all over the league.
