The Atlanta Hawks are expected to be very active through the trade deadline, as they have recently dealt with a wave of locker room issues, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

Besides Trae Young's widely reported December locker room meltdown, which was not received well by some of his teammates, the locker room has imploded with a clear disconnect between some of the team's key players and the coaching staff.

“No energy, no one playing hard,” a source with knowledge of the Hawks’ situation said after a recent loss.

“This s**t is depressing,” said another.

Atlanta has targeted two centers: their former 7-footer Dewayne Dedmon, who thrived under a limited role with the Hawks the past two seasons, and Steven Adams of the Oklahoma City Thunder. ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski is also reporting that Atlanta has engaged in trade talks with the Detroit Pistons around Andre Drummond, although no deal appears to be imminent for the two-time All-Star and four-time rebounding champion.

Prior to a shocking win over the Orlando Magic before the flip of the calendar, the Hawks had lost 10 straight games, all but ending their hopes at making a run for the postseason. Despite winning their first two games of the season and three of their first six, Atlanta is at the bottom of the league with a 7-27 record. They are now in a much more dire situation than most thought possible.

The Hawks weren't aiming for a playoff run this season, but they expected to be competitive, which they haven't been. Even with the return of John Collins from a 25-game ban due to a violation of the league's performance-enhancing drug policy, the Hawks have been unable to figure it out at either end of the floor, boasting the worst point differential in the NBA (minus-10.5).
