Miami Heat forward Derrick Jones Jr. has been diagnosed with a groin strain and is now doubtful for Miami's game against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday, per multiple sources.
Jones Jr. left Saturday night's game against the Milwaukee Bucks appeared to have sustained the injury on a collision with Kyle Korver on a screen. The 6-foot-6 forward initially tried to play through the injury. However, he was eventually ruled out as he hobbled back to the locker room.
Derrick Jones exited the game after playing 16 minutes. He finished with 14 points on an efficient 5-of-6 shooting, making one three-pointer and going 3-of-3 from the charity stripe. He added two rebounds and one steal to round out his night.
Jimmy Butler, who has yet to make his Miami Heat debut, is already scheduled to miss the game against the Timberwolves due to the birth of his first child. It's unfortunate that Jimmy B won't make the Heat's only visit to Minnesota this season.
As for Derrick Jones, he will likely be day-to-day moving forward as he feels out his groin over the next 24 hours. Hopefully, this wouldn't keep him out for long.
Miami notched its second win of the young season with a massive come-from-behind victory over the Milwaukee Bucks. The Bucks led by as much as 21 points in the third quarter before the Heat stormed back in the fourth quarter.
Miami eventually forced overtime and closed the deal with Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo fouling out for the second straight game.
Goran Dragic top-scored for Miami with 25 points on 7-of-16 shooting off the bench. He led an overall team effort for the Heat, which had seven guys in double-figures.
