Miami Heat veteran Markieff Morris is now closing in on 50 missed games following his incident with Denver Nuggets star Nikola Jokic. In case you forgot, Jimmy Butler was one of the most heated players on the court after Jokic shoved Morris from behind following a hard foul. Right now, though, Butler appears to have no ill will against the reigning league MVP.

In a recent interview, Butler was asked about how he feels about Jokic and if there really is any bad blood between them. The Heat talisman pretty much killed that narrative with a rather surprising response:

“I don’t think that’s a rivalry,” Butler said, via Adam Caparell of Complex. “It sounds good. But I don’t even want to get into it. He’s a hell of a player.”

After that game against the Nuggets, a photo of Butler and a few members of the Heat waiting for Jokic in the tunnel went viral. It looked like Butler and Co. wanted to have a word with Jokic about the incident — and perhaps a bit more. Be that as it may, it sounds like Butler has moved past that issue. He even praised the Nuggets big man and his elite level of play.

In true Jimmy Butler fashion, however, the Heat star did not end his interview without sparking a bit of controversy. According to Butler, he'd love to see a little more violence on the basketball court:

“I don’t think so,” Butler responded when asked if he thought there was a lack of rivalries within the NBA today. “There are some real rivalries out there. I just think the game has changed in a lot of ways. They’re not letting you get into no brawls no more. Nobody’s going to let you do that. I wish that they would let us do that a little bit, if I’m just being honest. I really do think they’re still there. The game has just changed. It’s not as much banging and knocking people to the ground anymore. You can’t do it like that—you get a flagrant 1, a flagrant 2, a tech, something. I wish it would go back to that time.”

Butler's no-nonsense attitude would have definitely fit in well in the old days. He's the type that does not back down from anyone no matter what and he would have absolutely thrived in the NBA had he been born 20 or 30 years earlier.
