The Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics face off on Tuesday night in what is expected to be an intense matchup between two of the top teams in the Eastern Conference this season. Unfortunately for the Heat, they will now be entering the game shorthanded yet again with Jimmy Butler emerging as a late addition to the injury report.

Jimmy Butler injury status vs. Celtics

The Heat announced just an hour before tip-off that Butler is going to be sidelined for Tuesday's marquee matchup. The Miami talisman has been ruled out due to lower back tightness, as reported by team insider Ira Winderman of the South Florida Sun Sentinel.

This comes out of nowhere for the Heat considering how Butler wasn't even listed on the initial injury report. This is the first we've heard of this back injury too, which makes Butler's absence even more unexpected. This is Jimmy Butler we're talking about here, and while he may not be the most robust player out there, there's no denying that he would have very much wanted to be out on the floor with his teammates when they battle the league-best Celtics.

Boston, on the other hand, will be shorthanded on Tuesday as well, with Jaylen Brown, Marcus Smart, Al Horford, and Malcolm Brogdon all ruled out with respective injuries. Jayson Tatum will need to do the heavy lifting for the Celtics yet again.

As for Jimmy Butler, his next chance to play will be on Friday against the Orlando Magic at home.
