Miami Heat forward Jimmy Butler crossed paths once again with his former teammate in Karl-Anthony Towns when the Minnesota Timberwolves visited South Beach on Friday night. The five-time All-Star didn't forget their colorful past as he hurled expletives towards Towns midway through the tilt, via Complex Sports.

The issue between both players goes way back in the 2018-19 season when Butler was still a member of the Timberwolves. He was reportedly frustrated with the attitude of his younger teammates led by Towns. In a practice scrimmage, Butler vented his ire as he teamed up with the third-stringers and strongly went at Towns who was playing with the starters on his side.

The situation eventually reached a boiling point as Butler declined to sign a contract extension with the team. He was eventually dealt to the Philadelphia 76ers after playing just 10 games in the 2018-19 season.

On Friday night, Butler saw an opportunity to impose his will once again as he led the Heat with 25 points, eight rebounds, and six assists. Town tallied 27 points, six rebounds, and four assists in a losing effort as his team succumbed to a 121-112 defeat.

The win turned out to be a crucial one for Butler and the Heat as they are currently avoiding the play-in tournament for the postseason. They improved to a 36-31 record for the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference and are currently holding a slim lead against the Boston Celtics who are listed at the seventh spot with a 35-32 tally.

After the on-court incident, it seems like both players have yet to bury the hatchet to this day. Knowing Jimmy Butler's attitude towards the game, he will only use the altercation as motivation to power his team to a potential playoff bid in their coming games.
