When trade talks between the Miami Heat and the Minnesota Timberwolves were ongoing, Josh Richardson was among the names that were brought up. The discussions fell apart, but Richardson's future with the Heat is still being questioned. But the 25-year-old is not letting the rumors bother his play.

As per Dan Feldman of NBC Sports, Josh Richardson admitted that from time to time, he checks out the trade rumors, though he's aware that it's not his job.

“I’ve always kind of stayed in my lane,” Richardson [said].

Through nine games, Richardson has put up career numbers to start off the season. He's logging 22.1 points per game on 43.9 percent shooting. In addition, he's snagging 4.6 rebounds and three assists. On the defensive end, he's averaging one steal and 1.1 blocks per contest. He's on the first year of his $42 million, four-year contract extension.

Everyone is surprised by Josh Richardson's play. After all, he was the 40th overall pick back in 2015. And in his rookie year, the Heat sent him to their G League affiliate, Sioux Falls Skyforce. Heat head coach Erik Spoelstra admitted that he didn't expect Richardson to blow up like this:

“We never want to put a ceiling on anybody,” Spoelstra said. “When he first came in, no, I didn’t necessarily see him as this.”

It's difficult to accept that a rising talent like Richardson is included in trade talks. Yet this is the way the NBA goes. But whether or not Richardson stays with the Heat, wherever he goes, it seems that his future is certain. Richardson has proven that he belongs in the NBA.
