The Miami Heat are preparing for Game 1 of their opening series in the NBA Playoffs on Sunday as they face the Atlanta Hawks. There was initially a bit of concern that big man Bam Adebayo could miss out after he entered COVID-19 protocols on April 9th, ultimately missing the season finale.

However, it appears Bam will be back for this contest after clearing protocols. Via Anthony Chiang:

Huge for the Heat. Bam is a crucial part of their success on both ends and the heartbeat of the frontcourt. The former Kentucky standout was brilliant in 2021/22, averaging 19.1 points, 10.1 rebounds, and 3.4 assists per game in 56 appearances. He missed time due to injury, but still managed to put together an impressive campaign.

Funny enough, his last contest before landing in protocols was against Atlanta, torching them for 24 points. It's unknown at this point if Clint Capela will feature in the series or not after Friday's scary knee injury, but if the center is unavailable, Bam is going to have a fun time absolutely dominating the Hawks.

The Heat is a clear favorite in this matchup, but you can never take Trae Young for granted. The stout defense will be looking to shut him down and that includes Adebayo, who has the ability to switch off and guard anyone 1-5. That's exactly why he's in the running for DPOY.
