Miami Heat president Pat Riley thinks All-Star small forward Jimmy Butler “had a perfect week” with Miami in the first week of camp.

From getting an early training session at 3 in the morning, to bringing intensity to practice, Butler is doing everything Riley thought he was going to do when the Hall of Famer acquired him from the Philadelphia 76ers this summer.

“I think the one thing that he has brought, he has really brought an awareness to another level of what he has to do,” Riley said, via Ira Winderman of the Sun-Sentinel. “Not just coming into another normal camp with his team. This is a new team, new situation.

“I thought he has had a perfect week. Actually went to a point where he was so hyper to a point where he became sort of exhausted by the end of the week by trying to make everything right. I love it. I think he's going to be great for us. I just do.”

Jimmy Butler, a four-time All-Star, signed a four-year, $140.79 million contract with the Heat in July as part of a sign-and-trade deal with the Philadelphia 76ers. The swingman played for the Minnesota Timberwolves and Sixers last season.

Butler averaged 18.7 points, 5.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists with the Timberwolves and Sixers in 2018-19 while shooting 46.2 percent from the field, 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 85.5 percent from the free-throw line.

Jimmy is a fierce competitor, something Pat Riley and the Heat really value from the their players. By all accounts, Butler and the Heat were made to be together.
