Miami Heat rookie guard Tyler Herro will return to the rotation for Sunday's game against the San Antonio Spurs, according to Anthony Chiang of the Miami Herald:

Herro previously missed each of Miami's last two games due to a a bruised left knee. Though the injury did not appear to be overly worrisome, it is certainly possible Herro could face a possible minutes restriction after he was a game-time decision in the buildup to the contest.

The former Kentucky star has been a reliable scorer off the bench, averaging 13.4 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.2 assists while shooting 38.5 percent from beyond the arc on 5.5 attempts per game.

Herro entered this season with high expectations after lighting up opposing teams during the preseason. He has continued to show some potential as a combo guard throughout the course of the 2019-20 campaign, and Heat officials believe his ceiling is limitless:

Herro's contributions are emblematic of why the Heat have had success this year. Fellow rookie Kendrick Nunn and second-year forward Duncan Robinson have shown they are capable rotation stalwarts, while third-year center Bam Adebayo is having the best season of his young career.

The Heat improved to 29-12 after Friday's win over the Oklahoma City Thunder, and they currently sit in second place in the Eastern Conference standings. Jimmy Butler has helped to establish a winning culture in his first year in South Beach, making it a point to develop a relationship with the youngsters as well as veteran players such as Goran Dragic.

As a result, Miami's window of contention is rapidly accelerating. Herro will hope to help the Heat earn a win on Sunday to kickstart the second half of their season.
