The Miami Heat's fantastic 2021-22 season could get even better. They look like a contender for the Eastern Conference throne again. Their depth, which has been solid thanks to the emergence of Tyler Herro as a true star-level player, could soon be bolstered with Victor Oladipo's return.

Oladipo injured his quad last season, requiring surgery that shut him down for months. Now, he is making serious progress towards his return. The Heat announced that Oladipo will begin to scrimmage with their G League affiliate, the Sioux Falls Skyforce, to prepare for his return to the NBA hardwood.

Oladipo found his way to Miami at last season's trade deadline after years of being rumored to have an interest in joining the team. Miami traded Kelly Olynyk, Avery Bradley and a protected 2022 first-round pick. He played just four games with Miami, averaging 12.0 points, 3.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game.

Although he isn't close to being the star he once was, Oladipo can provide some decent scoring and defense off the bench for Miami. He and Herro should be a good one-two punch against backup units. Oladipo could also provide some extra defense in a lineup with Jimmy Butler, Bam Adebayo and Kyle Lowry.

Miami's depth took a hit earlier in the season when Markeiff Morris went down with a neck injury, though he is hopeful he can play again before the season ends. The Heat's bench could be a big part of their championship hopes if luck is on their side.
