X-rays results came back negative after Miami Heat swingman Derrick Jones Jr. took a scary fall during the second quarter of their preseason game against the Charlotte Hornets, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Jones attempted to follow up a Goran Dragic miss from the perimeter with a put-back dunk, but got his legs tangled up with Marvin Williams' body, causing him to fall short and suffer a scary fall, injuring his right shoulder.

Jones was diagnosed with a bruised shoulder soon after his X-ray, according to Will Manso of Fox Sports Heat, news that brought encouragement after the scare.

“Just relief,” Derrick Jones Jr. said when asked how he felt, according to Anthony Chiang of The Miami Herald. “Obviously the fall hurt. It’s just a bruise. Got X-rayed and they just told me it came back negative, it’s just a bruise. I’m happy.”

Even Hornets players were concerned for the high-flyer, along with his Heat teammates and coaches after hearing the loud thud on the hardwood after Jones landed awkwardly. [Warning: Graphic]

“It was an absolutely crazy fall,” said Heat coach Erik Spoelstra. “He was probably 14 feet in the air, and for him to crash like that and for it just to be a bruise. All of us are extremely thankful for that. Watching it live, it looked horrifying. But he has a way of falling and he already has a smile on his face. He’s very relieved and it was a heck of a play and attempt to try to get that offensive rebound.”

Jones has been showing he's due for some minutes this season after providing some good motor at both ends with his rebounding, athleticism, and shot-blocking ability. His time of recovery will be the only thing keeping him from having his name called off Spoelstra's bench.
