The Boston Celtics just hit a grand slam on the Fourth of July by landing prized free agent Gordon Hayward with a four-year, $128 million contract. Celtics players rejoiced the news on social media; chief among them was point guard Isaiah Thomas.
Apart from sending out a personal tweet, Thomas also sent word to ESPN (c/o Adrian Wojnarowski) on his reaction to Hayward's signing:
The Celtics barely stood a chance against the East's overlords in the Cleveland Cavaliers during last season's conference finals. Now that they have Hayward on board, their odds of getting over the massive hump that is Cleveland just drastically improved.
Both Thomas and Hayward were All-Star selections in 2017, and now they – along with Al Horford – give the C's an All-Star roster that passes as a real threat to not just the Cavs, but the entire league.
