Anthony Rendon of the Los Angeles Angels will be out for two weeks at least after an MRI revealed significant bleeding in the shin bone in the spot that he fouled a ball off, and manager Phil Nevin discussed how much the Angels will miss Rendon over the next two weeks.

“We'll miss them over the next two weeks, certainly,” Phil Nevin said, vie Taylor Arrey of The Sporting Tribune. “I'll be in touch with him. It stinks what he's going through. I know the heat he takes, but I hope people understand that his guy is hurt right now and it hurts him inside to not be out there.”

The Angels are without Rendon and Mike Trout. It is a crucial time for the team, as they are hoping to stay competitive in the American League wild card race, and avoid becoming sellers at the trade deadline. Mike Trout is still recovering from a left hamate fracture.

The biggest question of the trade deadline is whether or not Shohei Ohtani will get traded. It seems unlikely that it will happen, but the Angels could be forced to consider trading Shohei Ohtani if they play poorly over the next week or so leading up to the deadline.

It will be intriguing to see how the Angels do with the absences of Rendon and Trout, and what implications that will have on the upcoming trade deadline. It could greatly change how the rest of the MLB season goes if Ohtani is put on the block.
